The Form Unfolded
Volumetric and Anthropometric Driven Design
Exploring Volume: Perception and Transformation
This studio exercise focused on the generation and manipulation of volumes, examining how spatial forms evolve and respond to their context. The project aimed to explore how a volume is expressed within a site and how its perception shifts when viewed at different scales.
A key aspect of the study was understanding the transformations a volume undergoes—through subtraction, addition, fragmentation, and spatial layering. The exercise also delved into the human-scale experience, questioning how altering proportions influences the way a space is perceived and interacted with.
Through iterative explorations, the project analyzed how volumes define and enclose space, how they establish visual and physical connections, and how their form interacts with light and shadow. This approach allowed for a deeper understanding of the relationship between geometry, scale, and spatial experience, serving as a foundation for architectural design thinking.
